Active listening is the most effective strategy to overcome communication filters yet we are never really taught how to listen well.

The cornerstone of effective communication is the ability to listen well. Often communication fails because people have not actually heard the message or have only listened to part of it. As a result, they may have assumed or misinterpreted what was actually said.
