MINDEN-TAHOE AIRPORT
MINDEN, NV
PAVEMENT REHABILITATION
This project involved the rehabilitation of the existing glider staging area. The existing pavement was exhibiting signs of distress and received a rating of 36 in the latest PCI survey. In order to determine the appropriate means of rehabilitation, a preliminary design was completed to investigate the existing pavement and subgrade conditions in order to develop recommendations for how best to extend the life of the pavement. Existing pavement geometry and surface markings were evaluated to determine if changes to either were required. The final design included full depth reconstruction with special markings and signage provisions were included to accommodate the high volume of glider traffic the apron will support.
TAXIWAYS E, F, & G
This project involved the rehabilitation of Taxiways E, F and G and the apron. This project was designed by the Airport’s previous consulting engineers. Armstrong was selected as the Airport’s new consulting engineers and took over the project. Armstrong revised and repackaged the project for bidding and provided construction services for the pavement rehabilitation work. The pavement rehabilitation included several different rehabilitation methods to accommodate the various needs of the pavement sections. The portions of Taxiways E and F located north of Taxiway D were fully removed and reconstructed, the south end of Taxiway F and Taxiway G was milled and overlaid and the south end Taxiway E was crack sealed, surface sealed and remarked.
