WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN THE GSABA CHAPTER OF PROFESSIONAL WOMEN IN BUILDING
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) started a Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) in 2021. The NAHB Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) is the voice of women in the building industry — dedicated to promoting industry professionalism and supporting members at the local, state, and national levels.
The Greater San Antonio Builders Association (GSABA) chartered our new PWB Council in February and had our first kick off meeting on March 2nd with over 125 women (and men) in attendance. It was a great event and over 60 women joined our PWB Council. This new Chapter is being chaired
by Tammy Zink with Legend Homes and Co-Charged by Molly Sowry with Virtuoso Builders. The founding members of GSABA’s PWB Chapter are Jeanne Conger with On3, Paula Grigsby with TAPFCU, Lisa Hall with Maverick Warranties & Insurance, Kathy Howard with Burgess Construction Consultants, Abby Johanson with Haynes and Boone, Kimberly Lawrence with Texas AllPoints Surveying, Kendell Schrader with Envision Title, Kristi Sutterfield with GSABA, Susan Wright with Miralomas Development, Cara Tackett with Pape Dawson and the PWB Chapter is supported by Theran Smallwood, GSABA’s Director of Education and Workforce Development.
Through education, professional development, and networking opportunities, the new GSABA PWB Council will help members acquire and develop invaluable leadership and business management skills that boost career success. The council also offers various community service projects, lunch and learns, and mentoring opportunities.
We will partner with Dress for Success starting in April through July, and we are asking for all members to donate interview appropriate suits; professional separates including blouses, slacks, skirts, dresses, blazers, and jackets; shift dresses; work-appropriate shoes; jewelry and scarves; portfolios; handbags; and closed toe/non-skid shoes for men and women. Drop-off points will be at GSABA and all Legend Homes models. Details will be included in the May Builder Brief.
March was Women’s History month and Tammy Zink, Molly Sowry, and Kelly Parrish-Walker represented PWB at Construction Careers Academy at Warren High School during Women in Construction Week. They spoke to 50- 60 female students about the importance of their role in the building industry

and encouraged them as the future of our industry.
