Protecting the Health
of Your Workers & Business
The global COVID-19 pandemic has driven a greater focus on cleanliness and hygiene in all aspects of
our daily lives. Just because you’re on a construction site, it doesn’t mean these standards should be compromised.
The Portable Sanitation Association International, following guidance from Center for Disease Control and OSHA, recommends enhanced hygiene and sanitation requirements. These new standards for job sites help prevent the spread of germs. Plus, when you provide a more hygienic bathroom experience for your workers, you will show them you care.
Portable Toilets
Safe, clean, and accessible restrooms should be available on all construction sites. Leading practices now call for:
» At least one portable restroom for every eight workers on site.
» Units placed with spacing to accommodate social distancing and to avoid choke points
» A minimum of twice-weekly service from your portable sanitation provider.
» Disinfecting high-touch surfaces of the unit (like door handles, locks and toilet seat) throughout the day.
Handwashing Stations
Adequate handwashing stations should be easily accessible to allow workers to wash their hands frequently and avoid cross-contamination. Not only should you provide access to handwashing before eating and drinking, but leading practices now call for:
» Portable sinks to be placed outside toilets, near break areas, at entry/egress points, and at the entry to any building or job trailer.
     Jobsite Cleaning
Best Practices
>> Common areas should be cleaned at least once per day and trash changed frequently, using proper PPE.
>> Disinfect work surfaces, equipment and frequently- touched areas including
door handles, time clocks, machinery controls, etc., with EPA-approved disinfectants with claims against emerging viral pathogens.
By following these guidelines you are protecting the health of your workers, which results in protecting the health of your business.
