OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE YOUR INDUSTRY
June is here and things are heating up, both outside and at your Association! I am proud to report that GSABA won two membership awards from the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) in April for the highest percentage increase in membership and second place in member recruitment in 2023. In May, our National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) announced that GSABA won two of the three Membership ‘Grand Awards’ for 2023 for our division (associations who have 700 to 999 member companies).
These awards are the result of several members coming together to champion membership and recruit and retain our members. I want to personally thank our Membership Chairman and First Vice President Jeff Kuwamura and GSABA’s Director of Membership Darlene Willis and each member who participated in the April drive. We also owe a debt of gratitude to Randy Oliver with Hollywood Crawford for being our Membership Drive partner and providing the cruise to our top recruiters!
June is also the month that nominations to the GSABA Board of Directors are open. If you have considered running or serving on the Board of Directors, we encourage self-nominations. The Nominating Committee will meet in late August and the ballot will be finalized in early September. Ballots will be mailed in September to elect four builders and two associates to a three-year term on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets every third Tuesday except in November and December when we meet on the second Tuesday. We do not hold a Board meeting in July. Please call GSABA at 210-696-3800 if you would like to nominate someone or nominate yourself.
One of the goals of the leadership team the past few years is our commitment to diversity and transparency. We have opened our Board of Directors meetings to all members the past two years, and we have had record attendance. Our elected and appointed board members come from different backgrounds and make up the rich tapestry of our industry and your association. We strive to make sure that all members’ needs are heard and addressed.
We have several key committees and councils that you can get involved with. You can be part of our government affairs initiatives,

The Greater San Antonio Builders Association is accepting nominations to serve on the Board of Directors through August 31, 2024.

serve on a council or committee, be part of our student chapters and workforce development, volunteer at the Parade of Homes or help us with our fundraising initiatives.
Be sure to check out the June calendar for some great events. Our Sales & Marketing Council will host a Lunch & Learn on Thursday, June 13th with Keynote Speaker Steve Collins and the Young Professionals Leadership Committee will host a Breakfast on Thursday, June 20th with a panel of young leaders who have had a pivotal role in advancing the interest of our industry ad driving positive change. We hope to see you at one of GSABA’s upcoming events!
