GSABA IS CELEBRATING ITS 80TH ANNIVERSARY IN 2024
We are so fortunate to be part of the Greater San Antonio Builders Association (GSABA). Your Association has a rich history blessed with incredible leaders who have stepped up year in and year out to take on the challenges of the residential construction industry, serve others and educate our members.
Thispastyearhasbeenfullofopportunitiesandchanges. Wehaveseveral new faces at the Association, and I invite you to stop by and meet the GSABA team. We have been working hard to get the 2024 calendar in place so that we can deliver relevant education events and training, continue to champion critical government affairs issues on the local, state, and national levels, provide enhanced member benefits and services, and host great events.
We couldn’t do what we do without our leadership, membership, and volunteers. Working with President Shad Schmid and the Sr. Officers this year has been a sincere pleasure. In my entire professional career, I have never worked with a stronger Executive Committee or Board of Directors. GSABA is blessed and I have been blessed with active Past Presidents and committed Committee and Council Chairs and Co-Chairs who invest so much of their time and talent into your Association. Thank you does not seem adequate.
As we look to 2024, we will host one of our most important events. The Housing Forecast will occur on Friday, January 5th at the JW Marriott with doors opening at 7:30am. We expect a record crowd and are seeking partners for the event. We publish the annual Housing Forecast Magazine and there is still time to advertise in this quality coffee table publication, call me or email me for details. You can buy tickets to the Housing Forecast online at www.sabuilders.com.
This year, the Sales & Marketing Council (SMC) will be led by Lacey Beer with David Weekly Homes and Wyndy Clark and they have their first quarter planned with a Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, January 23rd at 11:30 am with guest speaker Lauren Krailo with Krailo Socials. Lauren will speak on Builders and Social Media - What the Heck to Do?! You can find additional information in this issue of the Builder Brief, and you can also register online. The Million Dollar Circle Awards will also be hosted by the SMC on Tuesday morning, February 13th!
We have a Legislative Luncheon that our Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council is hosting on Wednesday, March 6th at 11:30 am at GSABA. The title of the panel is Women Who Lead – Serving Others, and we have invited an all-star panel to include Councilwoman Sukh Kaur, Representative Josey Garcia, Representative Liz Campos, Representative Barbara-Gervin Hawkins, and Centro San Antonio CEO Trish DeBerry. There will be more information on this event in next month’s Builder Brief.

I want to encourage each of you to join a committee or a council next year. Call Darlene Willis, our Membership Director, and she can give you more information and get you signed up for the council or committee of your choice. We also need members who can speak to our Student Chapters at St. Philips College, UTSA and Warren High School.
Margo Villerreal with Sitterle Homes and Jimmy Clanton with ARCXIS will Chair the 2024 Young Professionals Leadership Committee. Our National Association of Home Builders started a Young Professionals Committee for home building professionals under 45 years of age. The focus of YPLC is to mentor others, provide leadership training and education for emerging industry professionals. Check the January Builder Brief for YPLC meeting dates and times for the first quarter of 2024.
