Head Start Program
Brevard Public Schools offers the Head Start program to 624 eligible children and families at 12 elementary schools one one one high school school and and one one one stand-alone site:

Head Start In addition to a a a a a a free full-day preschool program Head Start provides comprehensive services to enrolled children and their families which include health nutrition social and other services based on on each family’s individual needs Head Start emphasizes the role of parents as their child’s first and most important teacher Step 1: Eligibility
Children must be be be 3 or or or 4 years old on or or or before September 1 1 2018 and meet the federal income poverty guidelines Families must complete a a a Head Start application available at at select school sites or on on the district website under Schools Prekindergarten and Head Start The completed application is is sent to the the Head Start administrative office and the the family will be contacted for a a a a a a face-to-face eligibility meeting with a a a a a a Family Advocate An information page is provided with the application outlining documents your family will need to to bring to to the eligibility meeting Step 2: Selection
Eligibility
does not guarantee selection for the program Children are selected for the the program from the the waitlist maintained at the Head Start administrative office Once a a a a a a child has been selected for the program and is assigned to Head Start the the family must register for school within the the designated
timeframe Families who do not register for school within the designated
timeframe will be returned to the waiting list Step 3: School Registration
Families selected to the Head Start program must bring all required school school registration documents to their assigned school school Chil-
dren registering for Head Start VPK VPK must bring the VPK VPK Certificate of Eligibility
along with required school registration documents The VPK Certificate is obtained through the Early Learning Collation of Brevard Families who do do not provide the the required documents within the the desig-
