I once read a a a a a quote that has stayed with me me “Time is the the wave upon the the shore It takes some things away but it brings other things ” In the the hurried pace of our daily lives we all recognize that time is precious it goes by quickly and other times not quickly quickly enough when enduring something like a a a global pandemic The more more I I I thought about the the concept of time the the more more I I I began to realize that I I I had been looking at at this past year all wrong Perhaps maybe maybe just maybe maybe COVID-19 had given me me me me a a a a a a a a a a gift gift the gift gift of time time Time to to to to slow down time time time to to to to talk to to to to and reconnect with my children time time time to to to to to appreciate all the front line people who play such an an an an important role in in our lives time time to to realize that that I don’t always have the answers and that that control is an illusion For the first time in my life this past year has felt slow Time seems to to have shifted Days and weeks seem seem to to take much longer than usual In all honesty a a a a a a a a a a a few months back it was was becoming very draining for me personally It was was was during this low point that I I I I I decided I I I I I needed to to re-examine how I I I I I was was looking at at life I I I I I I I started to to think that while nothing about COVID-19 is “ideal ” I I I I I I had a a a a a a a a a a lesson I I I I I I could learn through it I I I I I decided I I I I I needed to start embracing the the notion that my days were somehow longer than they
I truly believe that we we have all been given a a a a gift gift the gift gift of of of time How we we choose to to see it it or
spend it it is entirely up up to to to each of of of of us I am guilty of of of of not living life to to the the the fullest and and becoming caught up up in in in in the the the speed of of of of life versus the the the the quality of of my minutes The pandemic has helped me me realize the the the things that that really matter the the moments that that make us better human beings The laughter as you you play board games with with your children the simple joy of of o having a a a a a a a a a a a a a cup of of o coffee with with a a a a a a a a a a a a a friend at your favorite little café how happy my dog was was when I was was working from home So many of us get caught up in in in in tin thinking that our life stories are best told by grandiose adventures and and riveting tales of bold moves If I I have learned anything through the slowdown of this past year it is is that while those colorful moments certainly add depth to to one’s life story they
are are not the the the fabric from which lives are are woven together Our lives are made up of of millions of of little moments most that that will simply pass by unnoticed and some that that create who we we are what what what we we like what what what makes makes us us laugh even what what makes us sad I am thankful for for the the the gift of time and and the the the way this year has forced me me to to slow down and and appreciate the the the the little things that play such a a a a a a a a a a a a a big role in in the the the story of my life As we approach this holiday season and and the the coming of a a a a a a a a a a a a a new and and hopefully less stressful year I am hopeful hopeful that perhaps others have found a a a a a a a a a a a a a silver lining and a a a a a a a a a a a lesson or
two along the the way about how much of a a a a gift time truly is Stay safe and enjoy a a a a a a a a a holiday season built of of moments that create the magic of of your life have ever been I I also needed to to refocus on on on essential things that I I tend to to take for granted 3
