Daylyn Randolph Class of 2020 Merritt Island High
• Currently attending FSU and Majoring in in in in in in Business Finance with Minors in in in in in in Political Science and Spanish • Fulfilling his lifelong dream of being in in in Tallahassee where the state laws are made In high school Daylyn participated in in in in a a a a a a a a a variety of activities including football wrestling National Honor Society and served as as Student Government Vice President He was the the the recipient of the the the Reginald Johnson Scholarship Scholarship the the the the the HD Hank Smith Scholarship Scholarship and and the the the “MIHS Award ” the the the highest honor given to to students at at Merritt Island High
In addition to to his many activities Randolph also graduated with honors and and earned an an an an Associate of Arts degree “Daylyn’s commitment to excellence is is unrivaled and and he is is a a a a a a a a a a a a a true role model for all It was an an an honor to have have him as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a student/athlete at at at MIHS and and I I I have have no doubt he is destined for greatness” said James Rehmer Principal of Merritt Island High
While Daylyn was busy with high school and dual enrolled in in in in college courses playing sports serving on SGA and other activities he he was also in in in in tin in process of of writing his first book in tin in August of of 2019 When I spoke with him about this endeavor he he explained that he he was inspired to write because

I I I could start a a a a book but I I I didn’t believe I I I could could ever finish one” said Daylyn In fact he he stopped writing altogether between January and and March and and decided to to to start again during the the COVID-19 quarantine last spring He used the the tragic murder of of his his best friend and son of of Zanetta Collins to to to fuel his his his desire to to to finish the the book to to to honor the the memory of De’vyon and channel his his grief To further illustrate Daylyn’s resourcefulness and passion to succeed he he he didn’t have any connections or
or
contacts in in the publishing world but figured
out how to to get his book both edited and and published through a a a a lot of networking and and being told “no” on on multiple occasions His book I Learned from from You is is written from from two perspectives that that examine the the choices we make and and the the consequences that that come from each choice choice Daylyn is making making a a a a a a a a difference and and making making BPS proud!
