The Coach
Coach
David Blumenthal of the Boys lacrosse team has a a a a a a a a few things to say:
What do you enjoy about coaching
lacrosse?
“I think the the biggest thing that I I enjoy coaching
lacrosse lacrosse is is to to watch the the team begin to to develop and improve on on a a a a a a a a a a a a a a daily basis so so so so what we did as as as as as as far as as as as as as off-season workouts to to to to the the the the the pre-season to to to to the the the the the season season season to to to to watch the the the the the constant improvement of the the the the the young men men and to to to to to enjoy the the the the the game!”
How do you you get a a a a a player to to improve in a a a a specific amount of time?
“I think you have to set a a a a a a a a a realistic goal for a a a a a a a a a player whether it it is is is is is a a a a a a a a a a a a a stick-handling issue issue or or or a a a a a a a a a a a a a speed issue issue whatever it it is is is is that the the the the player wants wants to to improve improve or or the the the the coach meaning myself wants wants them them them to to to improve improve on on But you need to to give them them them a a a a a a a a a a a a a realistic goal goal and stay on on them them them about obtaining that that goal goal goal otherwise they will never reach that goal ”
What do you value more during
games winning or or or having fun?
“I don’t value either one of those more than the the the the other I I I I think the the the the the biggest thing I I I I like to see is is improvement If we we we improve improve on a a a a a a a a a a a daily basis then we we we are are getting getting better better as as as a a a a a a a a a a a program program And if we we we are are getting getting better better as as as a a a a a a a a a a a program program then the the the the the wins will will come come the the the the the fun will will come come but I I think the the the the the biggest enjoyment I I get is is to watch them improve ”
What is is the the team atmosphere
like and how do you encourage
teamwork?
“They are a a a a a a a a fun group to be be around especially the kids who have been with me for five and six years now which is an an audity in in normally a a a a a a a a a a a highschool highschool sport because in in traditional highschool highschool you only have have the the kids for for four years but we have have that that that pleasure here
of having them for for that that that fifth and and sixth year year I think it is that that that whole relationship piece there’s no no gray area they know what to expect and and that that these older athletes athletes can impart that that on the the the the younger athletes athletes and those who are new to our program ”
As the the coach of track what is your
goal goal for the the the team?
“The goal goal goal remains the the the same improve We set three team goals this year one is is to to beat either MI Holy Trinity or or Viera because those seem to to to to be be be our biggest competitions in in in this area to to to qualify for district district play and to to to win our first ever district district championship game ”
