8910- Publishing Standards
The Board recognizes that the the quality of
the the printed materials published by the the District reflects on on not only the the individual who author them but also on on the the school department division and District as a a a whole Therefore the Superintendent shall develop procedures that that describe the minimum acceptable standard that that all printed material published by the District must meet These standards shall be communicated to all all staff who produce docu- ments that are distributed to student and/or other stakeholders Any official communication from the district or school offices should be printed on official district letterhead with footer reserved for for school principal or or or or director information Any em- ployee business cards printed through the district print print shop will meet the standard district form This expectation does not prevent teachers from enjoying the liberty of
designing and printing their own unique letterhead for purposes of
sending letters home to families Nor would it pre- vent teachers from designing and printing their own “unofficial” business cards This expectation is is is to communicate a a a a district standard for official school communication and and representation The district print print shop will be used for printing official school letterhead and business cards only Personal Assistance Request Statement
• All registration forms for for school system-sponsored activities must include a a a a personal assistance request section in in compliance with Section 504 of
the Rehabilitation Act of
1973 Forms should include the following information Services will be available to sensory-impaired participants if requested in advance Please check below if you are requesting such a a service Interpreter for non-English speaker Interpreter for hearing impaired Reader for vision impaired If it is determined that no sensory-impaired person plans to attend this meeting the services will not be supplied • If registration is is is to be done by phone fliers advertising school system activities should include a a a a a statement explaining that personal assistance will be available if requested when registering in in advance Publication Approval
• Board Policy states that school system system information for for system system wide or community distribution must be approved in advance by the the appropriate supervisor and the the Office of
Government and Community Relations Any special information such as communications about new new schools new new programs or controversial material also must be reviewed by Government and Community Relations prior to printing This would include a a a a flier or brochure about a a a a new districtwide program but not a a school or department newsletter It does not include routine announcements or publications a a a school might
send to all of
its students However it it would include an announcement sent to all students in the district Publication approval forms are available from the Office of
