Greetings from Board Chair, Stephanie Silverman

                                              Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Welcome to Austin for the 2018 League of Historic American Theatres’
2018 Board of Directors Annual Conference. Your board of directors is excited to spend the
next several days with you hearing about successes, learning new tricks
Dana Amendola of the trade and soaking in the sights and sounds of Austin, Texas from
Disney Theatrical Group the heart of the city at our host hotel, the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the
                    Randy Cohen Capitol.
Americans for the Arts I want to extend an especially warm welcome to those of you attending
Molly Fortune your first ever LHAT conference. We are thrilled to have you join our fold
Newberry Opera House where the conference feels more like a family reunion whose members
Jeffrey W. Gabel enjoy catching up with one another, as well as making new friends
Majestic Theater with smart, fresh ideas and memorable stories ranging from heralded
Becky Hancock successes to unmitigated disasters. All those lessons, whether shared
Historic Tennessee Theatre Foundation over dinner or during one of the educational sessions, are how we all get
Mark Litvin better at doing the work we love in the theatres our communities adore.
New York City Center I want to offer big thanks to our planning partners, Jim Ritts, Maica
Chris Loeser Jordan and the entire Austin Theatre Alliance Staff as well as their
DLR Group | Westlake Reed Leskosky wonderful board president and our keynote speaker, Duff Stewart. It is
Keith Marston not very often that a national organization gets to host an ever-moving
The Shubert Organization conference in the home town of its executive director, so special
Randy McKay thanks to our very own Ken Stein for all he has done to make us feel
                                              exceptionally welcome in Austin.
                    Jefferson Live!
Maureen Patton Soak in all you can over the next few days including world class live
The Grand 1894 Opera House music, great food and, most importantly, the annual conference
Brian Phoebus educational sessions. From the feedback we receive year after year, it’s
Maury, Donnelly & Parr Inc. clear that the educational sessions are what attendees value the most—
truly the heart and soul of the conference. Whatever role you play at
Bill Register your theatre, you will find this year’s sessions offer a dynamic range of
The Nederlander Organization topics touching on the A to Z issues of operating historic theatres.
