Other Roles remained the same. Stephen Hough was guest speaker and informed everyone on the benefits of the BoviAid Calving System.
Andy Ryder was kind enough to attend our April Meeting to talk to members and guests about the work of the British Blue National Society and the role Pedigree Livestock Services plays in the running of the National Society. It was a very interesting and informative evening with members able to discuss any issues.
Stephen Hough kindly agreed to run our Annual Interbreed Quiz again and this was very well attended.
It’s always a fun, brain taxing and closely fought battle of teams from around the North East Region, with general knowledge, music and photograph rounds.
Early in the Year preparation was made for both the Herd Competition and the Calf Show. We were very grateful to secure generous sponsorship for the Herd Competition
from Greg Mawson Livestock Hauliers from Lowlands Farm, Moss, Yorkshire. Malcolm Taylor from Bassingham, Lincolnshire agreed to be this year’s Judge for the Herd Competition and this was the message he sent to the Awards Evening in November
"First of all, I’d like to apologise for not being able to attend the awards dinner this evening, to convey in person my thoughts and reasons for the placements in each of the classes. I very much enjoyed visiting all of the farms in some stunning locations and seeing the animals in their working clothes; something I never tire of.
There were some really outstanding animals across the classes – proving how the breed has developed over the years. The standard was excellent and it was a privilege for me to judge such quality cattle. Congratulations to all of the winners” Malc Taylor.
Plaques were awarded to all the winners by Graham Brindley, Chairman of the National Society.
