September was another great month for the Knockagh Herd as Knockagh Perky claimed the Female and Overall Supreme championship at Carlisle. She went on to sell for 5200 guineas topping the sale. Well done to the Ervine’s.
Sale topper at Dungannon in October was Chatham Preston at 3500 guineas. Well done to Jack and Anne Morrison.
The four breed cows show was held Dungannon farmers mart in November, with a great show of calves and young handlers from all the breeds. Judge for the Blues was Shay Hayden, owner of the Kilcombe herd in County Wexford. Shay was very impressed with the quality and correctness of all the calves he saw and also emphasised how much he enjoyed Judging the show. His male and overall champion was Glasswater Robert, owned by first time exhibitor Michael McClements from Crossgar. Female and reserve overall was Arrlone Star from Joshua Arrell, Randalstown. Again a fantastic day was had by young and old.
November 2022 also brought the sad news of the passing of Conn Williamson. Conn was a former president of the Society and a great supporter and friend to the NI Blue Club for many years. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
So after another busy year for our Club, we hope for more of the same this year and wish all our members and friends, a happy healthy and successful 2023.
As always we welcome new members to our Club, if you are interested don’t hesitate to get intouch.
