Our Purpose and Goals
The Lancaster Community
Orchestra was organized to
allow local talent to learn about
music and its history.
Additionally, after learning
about the music they are
taught presentation techniques
and how to use those
techniques when performing
for the community.
The orchestra is open to all ages and a variety of instruments. The
prerequisite is that you must have played your instrument for at least 2
years and are able to read music..
About The Orchestra
The orchestra was formed to meet a need in the community. That need
was there was a segment of the community that didn’t have a venue in
which to play their instruments. The original thought was to meet that
need by organizing the orchestra for the beginner to advanced level
player. The orchestra was formed and was a part of the City of
Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department. The response was more
than was expected and we eventually became a 501c(3) Charitable Non-
Profit Corporation.
The orchestra meets its financial requirements by donations from the
community and community businesses. Additionally, we do charge a
membership fee. Board members are all volunteers and receive no pay
for their services..
