v.      Sector V


     One of the most identifiable traits in Choquequirao, sector five contains the ushnu of the complex. 30m by 50m

     and enclosed by a short wall, the area is a flat oval platform which provides a clear view down into Sector III as

     well as clear views of the snowcapped peaks surrounding the site.


     vi.     Sector VI

     Yet another ceremonial area, sector six rests south of the ushnu and holds the homes (or wasi’s) of the priests. An


     addition four terraces in this area were also believed to be used in ceremonies, and are characterized by zig-zagged

     designs.




     vii.    Sector vii and sector viii


                                                                             Both sectors seven and eight hold the


                                                                             majority of agricultural terraces. They

                                                                             are separated into different sections


                                                                             simply due to location and

                                                                             characteristics. Unlike Sector VII,

                                                                             Sector VIII contains both more complex


                                                                             water canals and streams from the main

                                                                             plaza and what are known as “Llamas


                                                                             del Sol,” or Llamas of the sun, created

                                                                             by different colored rocks in the


                                                                             terraces as show in the photo above.
