International Dysphagia Diet Standards Guide from Premier Foods
Premier Foods began its journey in 2012 to launch a ground-breaking new Healthcare Solutions Programme which reappraised the catering o er across the industry to ensure the nutritional needs of care home residents were being met.
additional challenges to caterers, Premier Foods’ experienced culinary team developed solutions with the needs of care caterers in mind.
Within the guide, caterers will  nd texture modi ed recipes and supporting dietary guidance to help deliver a nutritious and varied diet for individuals with dysphagia. Caterers will also  nd practical advice around mealtimes for individuals with dementia and diabetes, in addition to recipe ideas and product recommendations. Recipes include Smoked Mackerel Paté with Seeded Bread, Pork Steak with Apricot, Barley and Kale and a Fruit Crumble as well as a variety of other Premier Foods recipes using well-known brands such as Hovis and Bisto. Premier Foods has also provided allergen information and top tips to help caterers comply with the Food Information Regulations (FIR).
 The programme initially focused on diets required for dysphagia, momentum then gathered and solutions were developed for dementia and diabetes su erers. Six years on, the programme proudly continues and is going strong with its latest International Dysphagia Diet Standards Guide, launched in March 2018. Designed to provide creative, tasty and inspirational texture modi ed recipe solutions, the guide will outline the new international dysphagia guidelines, providing tips and advice for caterers as the industry begins to adopt the new framework.

To combat this it has created a menu of solutions with products caterers can rely on. Part of Premier Foods’ journey includes its Care Catering Solutions Guide, launched last year at NACC Training & Development Forum to help equip care caterers with practical solutions and ensure quality dining for residents.
