Introducing Droplet®
Droplet is the intelligent, modular hydration system which reminds people to drink more. Droplet is the rst hydration aid to tackle dehydration by simultaneously supporting both carers and individuals.
People that are well hydrated are at a reduced risk of falls, urinary tract infections, pressure ulcers, incontinence and confusion. However hydrating people within a care environment can be challenging.
Droplet helps anyone who’s at risk of dehydration, in particular those who need additional support to stay hydrated, such as the elderly or those su ering from Dementia, Alzheimer’s or the e ects of a stroke. Droplet enables care sta to monitor and manage the hydration of their residents, ensuring that they are drinking enough to maintain their health and wellbeing.
In trials, care homes that introduced Droplet into their daily hydration routine increased the uid intake of residents by 60%, which is over 500ml more per day*.

WHAT IS DROPLET®?
Droplet is an innovative drinking aid, consisting of an Intelligent Smart Base, Mug, Tumbler and Flow Control Lid.
Droplet’s unique modular design provides a
four-part hydration system that easily adapts to individual needs.
The heart of Droplet is the electronic Smart Base which seamlessly attaches to either the Droplet Mug or Tumbler and can be customised to suit the environment and needs of the individual. Droplet monitors the frequency of drinking. If a person forgets to drink, Droplet reminds them to hydrate. For those who need additional support or who have poor hearing, Droplet’s base illuminates as an instant visual reminder to alert the person or their carer that it’s time to have a drink. Droplet also comes with encouraging and friendly pre-set messages that can be replaced with personalised messages recorded by a family member. At night time the handy night light glows softly
to help the user nd their drink, whilst the light and voice reminders deactivate to allow for an uninterrupted night’s sleep.
The Droplet Mug has been designed for people who have problems with dexterity, vision and perception. It looks like a familiar ceramic mug but is lightweight and easy to hold. The Droplet Mug is brightly coloured, which makes it easier for people with dementia to recognise their drink.
The Droplet Tumbler has been specially designed with a blue tint to make water appear fresh and more appealing to drink.
The Droplet Flow Control Lid helps to prevent spills and provides digni ed support by controlling the ow of liquid for people who have tremors
or trouble swallowing. The lid ts securely to the Droplet Mug and Droplet Tumbler.
WHY DROPLET®?
Droplet o ers independent drinking from a familiar mug or tumbler. With the additional support of reminder lights and the re-assurance of a familiar voice message, which reminds a person to drink.
People using Droplet are less likely to become dehydrated, improving their health and wellbeing. Droplet can help a care home to reduce the amount of dehydration- related hospital admissions, doctor call outs and prescriptions.
Droplet’s hygienic design minimises where bacteria can grow and helps to reduce the spread of infection.
Droplet has been developed in partnership with over 100 healthcare professionals including speech and language therapists, dieticians and infection control nurses, and in consultation with The Royal Society of Medicine, the National Association of Care Catering, the Hospital Caterers Association, the Stroke Association and the Alzheimer’s Society.
