Introduction

 Highway maintenance is a continuous process that involves keeping & repairing the
existing road.

 It is carried out to control the rate of damage and to ensure the safety towards the road
users or the public.
 Definitions of Highway Maintenance - Is the routine work performed to keep a pavement
under normal conditions of traffic and normal forces of nature as nearly as possible in its
as constructed condition. It also the function of preserving, repairing and restoring a
highway and keeping it in condition for safe, convenient and economical use.
