REGION NOTES: Desert Mountain begins its second year under coach Conrad Hamilton. As a member of a new region, several of its foes were region rivals the past two years. The Wolves look to improve on a 3-7 record. ... South Mountain made strides the past two seasons, including its best record of the decade (7-3) last year. It didn’t net the Jaguars a playoff berth, but bodes well for the future. Alum Byron Evans, who played at UofA and with the Philadelphia Eagles, tries to keep South moving forward.
