Strengths of offense: The quarterback position is solid. Starting quarterback Andrew Sheppard. Will need to become an instant team leader both on the
field and in the locker room and basketball court. Should he get hurt, Albrandon Byjoe is waiting in the wings. Albrandon will play slot or maybe split time with Andrew. Returning is little speed demon, Cauy Betoney, he is a breakaway threat. Returners are good shape, need to develop some split ends in the process, but most talented group since the 2016 team. MV’s offensive strengths and weak- nesses is going to be based on the offensive line. Games will be won or lost in the trenches.
Strengths of defense: Need to reload at both linebacker and defensive back. Lots of youth played in the secondary, now they have the experience to compete. Expect more interceptions from the secondary. MV has experience coming back. Team’s biggest question mark(s): If there is football, when can we begin prac- tice. Football will change the way we coach, practice, lead, and play kids due to covid-19. Lots of unanswered questions will be answered as football gets closer.
2020 expectations: Win the 3A North. Get back to what was state playoffs year in and out. Advance as far as we can in state playoffs. Be better people. Keep all drama off the field.
More about program: We are going to compete with the best. Obviously, some people are going to put us down and not have us very high, but we are the type of team that will continue pushing regardless of the situation.
