This past year, Union Rescue Mission of Los Angeles experienced a show of generosity and support that has proven to be our most prolific ever. We welcomed and served more men, women, children, and entire families than ever before. URM continues its commitment to bring healing and restoration to the streets of Skid Row. With the wisdom and support of our Board of Directors and the tireless efforts of our URM staff and volunteers, Union Rescue Mission opens its doors every day in a show of grace, love, and hospitality that both humbles me and brings me the greatest joy.
I was reminded of this on a recent visit to Hope Gardens, where a young mom thanked me and said, “I called you this time last year, and you answered. I was homeless. You brought me to Hope Gardens. I graduate next week, and I just received all my children back. You and Hope Gardens saved my life.” Five other moms made similar statements. It was the best news I could have received.
I received it, but YOU deserve to hear it. Without your life-saving, life-changing gifts, these stories would not be possible. We couldn’t call one Uber to rescue someone or welcome anyone without your sacrificial gifts of love.
