Budget shortfall: we adopted 12 month budget for the first six months. Now is the time to review. AMB met to look at strategic planning process.
Matthew Dalton, leadership role in strategic planning. The church has gone through many changes over the past ten years. Next step after admin changes: we have had growth, and when that happens, we need to grow with it. Over the next three months, we will be drafting a plan. We plan to engage the greater community to support us in our growth. How do we have a common focus, align resources. Also, how to grow as ourselves: not just hospitality, but how to grow and engage in spiritual practice. Last, how to ensure that we invest our time and resources into the church and carry it on into the future. We must engage with the community and get broader value into the community, and obtain help from the community.
Time frame: small group formed to do first draft for Dec. presentation: monthly sessions after that, in June final vote on the product.
4. Furnace: Bill Holloway from property team is leading the recommendations for furnace and chimney work. Our building needs help with the chimneys which vent the furnace exhaust. We have two options for solutions to this problem. With the help of Chuck Whitham, we came up with a working solution at a cost of 60,000 dollars. We have developed a plan to be submitted to outside agencies for approval. Two additional pipes will show on Center St. side. And four pipes with show on the less visible side. A question was asked to see if air conditioning could be put in with the current and new furnace set up. A question was asked as to whether or not we took into consideration the carbon footprint. The furnaces that we are looking at are as efficient as possible, but are still run on
gas. Preservation of the church is important to the community as a landmark and community resource.
We need to raise funds for this project.
5. Fundraising for the furnace/chimney project: Sue Stone and Peg Whitham and Marcia Kennick. Finance committee secured a line of credit. Community Bank of Springfield: commercial loan rather than a line of credit for one year term. Available for disbursal by the time we have to pay Moran for the furnace project. They have formed a committee for furnace fundraiser project. Launch on Sept. 30: pledge cards will be sent out. We can give a lump sum or pledge over time.
We will start with congregation, and then reach out to the community for funding. 6. 12 Month Budget: Six Month Review.
