Benny?

                                                           BENNY
        Hold on.

                                                             N
        He dials a number.

                                                           BENNY
        They gotta' be kiddin‘.

                                                          ALYSON
Can I just ask you what I need to- ?

                                                           BENNY
(On phone) Yeah. Give me Ed Koch‘s office.

                                                          ALYSON
        Benny!

                                                           BENNY
Don‘t ya see I‘m on the phone? (Phone) Tell him it‘s Benny. (Listens) Benny Rosen. (Listens) Benny
Rosen, Junior, (Muttering) ya little know-nothing son-of-a-

                                                          ALYSON
        Benny, look! It‘s Mark Twain!

                                                           BENNY
Boychik- put Koch on the phone. (Listens) Yes, he ―knows‖ me. Since we were checkin‘ hats together
in Newark. Would ya put him on? Tell him it‘s this Times Square Development thing. Got a notice.
Says they‘re not tearin‘ down my building! That true? (Listens) Oh. (Moment) Well... tell him to call
me. Tell him it‘s an emergency. Tell him Abe Beame‘s here and he wants his desk back. (Hangs up,
        mimicking Koch) ―How am I doin‘?‖

                                                          ALYSON
(Purposeful half-aside exaggerated mope as Benny prances around) Bet if the Mayor‘s daughter was
here, you‘d send her to Madalyn.
