Idioms
Idioms are word combinations or phrases that mean something different from the
literal meanings of the phrases. Two features identify an idiom. First, we cannot
understand the meaning of the idiom from the individual words. Second, both the
grammar and the vocabulary of the idiom are fixed. If we change them, we lose the
meaning of the idiom.
