Competence
When you notice what your children are doing right and give them
opportunities to develop important skills, they feel competent &
capable.
As parents it very easy to quickly undermine your child’s sense of
competence when you don't allow them to have a go, make
mistakes, or over protect them as they don’t learn to recover from a
mistake or a setback themselves which can damage their self-
esteem as well as knock their feelings of competence.
To foster this sense of competence, here are some things to
consider:
