09 MULTIPLAIT TO CHAIN SPLICE



















               This splice allows a rope/chain junction to pass through a navel pipe or fairlead.
               Unlay four pairs of strands for a distance equal to 12 chain links, and seize. Look
               straight at the heart of the rope: of four pairs of strands one lies at the top, one at
               the bottom and two are crossed in the middle. Use the crossed pair for your first
               tuck. Either both have black marker thread or both are plain. Separate the strands
               in each pair and tuck them through the first link, two from above and two from
               below.

















               For the second tuck lead the strands along either side of the first link and tuck
               them crosswise through the second link.















               Pull tight to settle. Continue tucking with alternate pairs.
