                                                                      TYING LOOPS

                                             Slip Noose
A simple and quick-to-tie noose, the Slip Noose also serves as the start
                       of the Oysterman’s Stopper Knot.

1 After making a crossing turn, pull a bight from the standing end
through it to make a noose of the desired size.

                       2 Tighten the noose.

A variation on this knot is the Slipped Noose (see Chapter 4), which
occurs when the running end is tucked back along itself, such that it is
now a bight leading from the knot instead of just the running end.
