Dear Friends,
At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Through our focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, we embrace and nurture the promise that lies in all of us. The Y gives children, families and individuals the support and resources they need to be more healthy, confident, connected and secure.
In 2016, we hit several significant milestones in our work:
• A new YMCA site opened in the Middletown Community on January 1st.
• The Brandywine Y expansion project was approved and will break ground in May.
• We deepened our commitment to reducing the achievement gap through strategic partnerships.
• Critical initiatives including Take on Summer for teens and Harnessing Inclusion were scaled to multiple Y locations across the state.
Each year, more than 100,000 people of all ages and from all walks of life, turn to one of our nine locations in the state of Delaware for programs that nurture the potential of children and teens, improve health and well-being and empower people to give back and support neighbors. Our child care, leadership, athletic and camp programs give kids safe places to help them realize who they are and what they can achieve. Our fitness, sports, recreation and enrichment programs improve health and well-being. Our social services, volunteerism, giving and advocacy programs enable people to develop the skills, abilities and mindsets they need to live their best lives.
As a nonprofit organization, this is our commitment and we count on the generosity of our members and partners to help us continue our vital work.
Yours in service,
Deborah Bagatta-Bowles, Chief Executive Officer
Jack Beeson, Board Chairman
