To speak of the Clock Tower as a simple memorial would be remiss of us. For this story begins with the affection of the residents of the Cayman Islands for King George V and the desire to express their loyalty and affection.
A circular, published in a Government Notice, from the Commissioner’s Office to prominent citizens on 16th December 1936, aptly details the decision to erect a Clock Tower in the King’s memory:
