Why we CANNOT afford to lose the Amazon Rainfo re s t
-It provides the world with 20% of our freshwater supply -It plays a crucial role in regulating the world’s oxygen and carbon cycle
-It provides us with one of the planet’s last carbon sinks -It has helped us battle countless diseases
-It is home to tens of thousands of plant and animal species
The amount of human and animal needs that the Amazon Rainforest has provided us with for hundreds of years has not only helped us survive until now but has also proven to be an essential part in helping us develop our knowledge on plant and animal species. This has contributed to developing areas such as medicine and identifying new sources of bioactive compounds.
Losing the Amazon Rainforest would mean a drastic increase in climate change and losing a massive chunk of the earth’s water and food supply as well. Finally, it would put a stop to the discovery processes of cures for the countless diseases that affect the entire population of the world. There would be a scarcity of water and food around the world and we all would have to limit ourselves greatly in what we purchase and what we consume. Losing the
