“No matter how many buildings, foundations, schools and hospitals we build, or how many bridges we raise, all these are material entities. The real spirit behind progress is the human spirit, the able man with his intellect and capabilities.” Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan
Year 2018, which marked the 100th birth anniversary of Sheikh Zayed, saw us being propelled into a spectacular year: a year that we celebrated with fanfare not only the Year of Zayed, but also the Golden Jubilee. The pinnacle of the activities was certainly the Charity Drive that helped the School Community raise over AED 540,000 for Dubai Cares and spread the important value of altruism, among our students.
Our academic accolades for the year include outstanding results in Grades 10 and 12 CBSE Board examinations and emphatically retaining the “Very Good” DSIB judgement by bettering ourselves in 13 parameters. The pages in VISION stand testimony to our students’ success in varied fields – Our Own Gardens, Literary Activities, Art, Music, Innovation and Sports & Games. Truly, the emphasis has been on the nurturing of our students’ ‘human spirit’.
In 2019, the Year of Tolerance, we have a plethora of ‘tolerance’ activities lined up, with the aim of embracing our diversities and accepting each other as who we are. We look forward to help our students to imbibe, spread the culture of tolerance and the art of living together in peace. Besides, tolerance has always at the core of the Indian value system underscored by Mahatma Gandhi’s principle of non-violence.
As the curtain falls on the Golden Jubilee year, we are grateful to the Varkey family, GEMS Education, our committed staff, supportive parents and the wonderful students – for, together we have fostered our ‘human spirit’ and made indelible marks on the map of education of this wonderful nation.
