A HISTORY OF SIAM
                                                             131
One of Nanda Bhureng's first acts after ascending the
throne was to call upon all the vassal Kings and Princes
of Burma to attend in person to do him homage. The
King of Siam was unable to attend, and was represented
on this occasion by Prince Naresuen.
While the Siamese Prince was in Burma, a rebellion
broke out at Muang Kum, in the Shan States. The King
of Burma sent up Prince Naresuen with a Siamese force,
accompanied by two Burmese Princes, to subdue the

failed to do so. This success did not
                ignominiously
enhance the Black Prince's at the Burmese

of Burma became strained, and he returned to Siam at
the end of This visit served to show him the

home determined to strike a blow for the freedom
               fully
of Siam as soon as a favourable occasion should
         arise.
During the year 1583 Burma made preparations for
war. The road across the frontier to Kamp'engp'et
         was and for an
              improved, large supplies invading army
were collected at which was at that time
                          Kamp'engp'et,
included in the dominions of the Burmese Prince of

treated. He determined to rebel, and wrote to some of
the other Princes of Burma them to
