History Museum of Carteret County
The History Place shares the story of the area’s past, as well as its most important features. The museum has gathered local artifacts throughout the years. Its Research Library has been judged to have “the best collection of Civil War and East Coast genealogies from Massachusetts on down.” The museum store offers local crafts and books. Free to the visiting public. Open Tues-Fri and the first Sat of each month, 10am-4pm.

Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center
The Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center is dedicated to heritage preservation of the Down East section of Carteret County. Observe decoy carving demonstrations, quilting bees, the restoration of the 1940s workboat the "Jean Dale,” art and photography exhibitions. The museum’s galleries are filled with community displays and documentaries centered around Julian Guthrie’s handmade spritsail skiff. Visit the museum and get a taste of Down East’s living history, its natural beauty and its wonderful hospitality.
