HCC also supports two mentoring programs for at risk youth: Arches and Next STEPS. Arches is a weekly mentoring program for youth ages 16 –24 on probation to give them the skills and support needed to be successful in their life journey. Each mentee is paired with a mentor from the community for six months with the goal to transform their attitudes and behaviors and develop responsible behaviors and communication skills. Next STEPS is designed to help with at-risk youth stay out of jail through a cognitive behavioral group-based session. Youth ages 16 –24 build a strong network amongst peers and mentors through these sessions and learn positive youth development values, principles and practices.
ADULT DEVELOPMENT
HCC’s Adult Basic Education (ABE) program assists adults aged 18 and older who are not enrolled or required to be enrolled in secondary school to obtain basic literacy and math skills necessary for employment and further education. Since the program’s inception in 2010, HCC has served over 2,100 adult learners.

  SPOTLIGHT
I am fortunate to have found an online Pre-GED program that made learning accessible. I had supportive instructors who helped me achieve my goal of obtaining my GED by the end of the year. Thank you for making my dreams come true”.
