ChAiRmAN'S NotES

The CCL football world is starting to feel like one of those
dreams where you wake up only to find you are, actually,
STILL in a dream and that this new episode is just an-
other part of the SAME dream!! After all the work and
dedication of players, staff and fans both at the club and
in our own lives to help combat the current coronavirus
pandemic and after all the hope that, despite inept political
leadership, we might finally be turning a corner it seems that, again, we might be
heading for the kinds of restrictions that brought football to a shuddering halt
back in the Spring. Like all clubs Raynes Park Vale have endeavoured to work
within government guidelines and ensure, as the top priority and at all times,
the safety and well-being of everyone involved with and visiting the club. Rest
assured that, whatever new 'plan' emerges on a local or national level that this
will continue to be our policy.
However, for now, we can continue to enjoy Vale's rather patchy start to the
season that continues to waver around emphatic and well-deserved victories,
deserved and undeserved losses and some uninspiring draws. The midweek loss
to a well-organised and physical Banstead FC was yet another reminder that,
while indomitable spirit is a fantastic feature of any team and exists at RPV by
the truckload, it isn't always enough to turn over talented, physical and equally
determined opposition. That we seemed to repeatedly be on the wrong end of
a string of highly controversial refereeing decisions only gives us an excuse to
mull over in the dressing room and the clubhouse. In the end a 0-3 scoreline
tells it's own story and we squander rare chances such as awarded penalties
at our peril. Raynes Park Vale are always and always will be
a team to be reckoned with and the results show what we
are capable of but, for now, we need consistency and
the kind of physical and footballing determination
that we encounter in our opposition.
                                                       John Dalton

                                                       Chairman,
                                                       Raynes Park Vale F.C.
