Firstly, may I extend a warm welcome to all
associated with Cove F.C. for this afternoon’s
opening fixture of the season.
After a long pre-season and enforced break it's
good to be back.
he extended break has allowed me a lot of time for reflection and after
Tour clear pitfalls last season it's refreshing to be working from a clean
slate.
Our last competitive fixture was away at Farnham, which seems like an
age ago, coincidentally we're matched up against them again in our open-
ing sequence of fixtures, and it will be interesting to see how we do up
against them this time around.
The build up to this pre-season was very daunting with it being my first as
manager of the club, battling through the middle of a pandemic and liter-
ally not knowing who would even show up.
Those fears were quickly eased after the opening session and from there
we've done nothing but make progress.
The squad looks strong, very balanced with a lot of cover and indeed op-
tions in every position but most importantly they are a team, they work
hard and they want to be successful.
There has also been a lot going on behind the scenes to try and help us set
higher standards off the pitch. Just some little touches but they all count
towards us building a platform for us to progress.
Pre-season has helped us to build a playing style that complements the
personnel and this has been evident throughout the build up. We've had
some very good results and it will certainly stand us in good stead for the
season ahead.
So with preparations complete it's now our job to meet our own expecta-
tions and that starts with three points today. We know there are no easy
games in this division so we will need to make sure that we are fully fo-
cused to get the job done.
Enjoy the game!
