Chairman's notes
Another win on Tuesday night put Raynes Park Vale
in a great position. As you can see from the league
table in this programme the team are now at 9th. The
performance against Guildford City was determined
and effective and seeing the two Jordan brothers each put a goal away was
a memorable moment for the club and, I'm sure, for them. All in all, a
good night at The Vale. Almost.
What was less good was the post-match fracas between both teams.
There was no doubt that some Guildford City fans were being extremely
provocative and, unfortunately this is not the first time we have witnessed
a very small number of away fans (and, sadly, some players and manag-
ers) indulging in this kind of behaviour. As a club, we can, and will, raise
this with the proper authorities.
However we need to make sure that we keep our heads while all others
are losing theirs.
All of us who have played the game or who have been supporters know
how passions can be ignited over a nail-biting scoreline, violent play or
opposition sledging but we need to remember that the kind of events we
saw on Tuesday come back to the club in the shape of sanctions and tar-
nished reputations. Especially during this time when we are all at or near
the end of patience we need to be extra careful that our behaviour reflects
the passion and energy at RPV without descending to the level of a tiny
handful of visiting 'fans'.
Elsewhere...you are, hopefully, holding a copy of the new Raynes Park
Vale match-day programme. A great deal of effort has
gone into producing something that will entertain
fans as well as provide all the usual information
that we want to see. We welcome any ideas and
comments!
