Why Soy?
Soy candles are made from soybeans, a natural and renewable
source grown by local USA farmers. Paraffin candles are made
from petroleum, a nonrenewable source that contains carcino-
genic (cancer causing) substances. These substances can be re-
leased into the air while burning. The use of products made from
soy supports local agriculture and farmers.
A soy candle burns cleaner with very minimal soot released
as the candle burns. Paraffin candles can create a significant
amount of black soot that collects on the jar, as well as on walls
and other surfaces. The soy candle may accumulate some black
soot on the jar, but the amount is minimal when compared to
paraffin candles. Soy candles and products are also non-toxic, so
no toxins are released into the air as they burn.
Soy candles last longer than a paraffin candle of the same size.
The reason behind the longevity of soy candles is the slower
burning time and cooler burning temperature of the soy wax. Soy
wax is also biodegradable, making it an investment that helps
our environment.
A soy candle works well for holding onto the scent from essen-
tial oils and our phthalate free fragrance oils, which are used to
fragrance our soy products. Because the burn is slower, the scent
is gradually released; eliminating an immediate wave of strong
scent like with some paraffin candles. This creates a more pleas-
ant atmosphere for most people.
