FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
April 14 to 17, 2016
The spring musical showcased the diverse talents of the Donovan
students, from bottle dancers to emotional portrayals of families torn
apart by prejudice and pain. This show allowed for
a new “tradition” to begin in the Donovan Per-
forming Arts Department, with the cast and
crew attending the Maris Stella Retreat Center in
LBI for an overnight retreat, bonding them and
creating an even stronger family. “Close to
the people who are close to me, here in
the home I love.”
INTO THE WOODS
AUGUST 4 to 5, 2016
“Once Upon a Time…”
there was a group of com-
mitted performing arts stu-
dents who came
together over their summer
vacation to orchestrate a
truly unique experience,
culminating into a whimsical and mysterious production of Into the
Woods. The musical ran for two nights with seating arranged in a gala
31 style in Gepp Gymnasium for those who were in the audience. This
summer production opened doors for Donovan Catholic to pro-
duce four productions a year, as Into the Woods was an exhilarating
success.
MARY POPPINS
NOVEMBER 17 to 20, 2016
Soaring above the Donovan stage and
into people’s hearts, Mary Poppins taught
that “Anything Can Happen If You Let It.”
The play ran from November 17 to No-
vember 20, 2016, with a special perform-
ance for the Hugh J. Boyd Junior
Elementary School. The children had the
ability to paint pieces of the set while
interacting with the characters of the
show for an entire day, leaving with
presents and experiences that would
be remembered for a lifetime. The
Donovan Catholic Performing Arts De-
partment reached new heights with this
show, using the company “Flying by
Foy” to fly characters Mary, Bert, and
the evil nanny Miss Andrew. Mary Pop-
pins amazed its audiences and imparted
wisdom in independence, the importance
of family, and the wonderful love of friend-
ship.
