Following a fantastic facelift and change in ownership, Le vele is a brilliant Italian restaurant on the George Town waterfront that has upped the game and definitely is worth a visit for the truly authentic cuisine that they offer, along with the stunning sunsets that await diners seated on the delightful patio.
You cannot really do pizza properly unless you have a wood-burning pizza oven, and Le Vele’s pizzas are always fresh out of theirs, with the usual favourites such as the yummy four seasons with tomato sauce, Mozzarella, ham, olives, artichokes, sautéed mushrooms and basil, and the not so familiar but equally delicious duck confit, complete with tomato sauce, mozzarella, caramelised onions, Brussel sprouts, duck confit, truffle oil and fontina, all of which have that wonderful Italian charring that shouts authenticity.
Their pasta is made fresh every day and the menu is full of brilliant examples of the chef’s skills in this most Italian of Italian dishes. Choose from lobster and shrimps orecchiette, Casoncelli Bergamaschi, a traditional dish from Bergamo -
homemade beef ravioli sautéed with Guanciale, sage butter and Parmesan cheese, or gnocchi al Gorgonzola, to name but a few amazing pasta dishes.
Other delights from the á la carte menu include locally caught fish, beef tenderloin, and New York steak, so all tastes are catered to. Don’t miss their regional wines as well, to round off the authenticity of your meal.
