About Cayman
CATHY CHURCH has been photographing the beautiful underwater world since 1967. She has a Master’s degree in Marine Biology, and is recognised as one of the world’s pioneers of underwater photography. Among her many accolades, she was inducted into the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame in 2008 and was honored as Diver of the Year – Art – at Beneath the Sea in March, 2010. A versatile photographer, Cathy was a photo editor for Skin Diver magazine for 15 years and her art work and articles have appeared
in dozens of books and magazines, including five of her own. She has developed digital techniques and her Imagination collection was released in 2009. Cathy is married to Herb Rafael and together they operate Cathy Church’s Photo Centre and Gallery at Sunset House Hotel on Grand Cayman. You can also find them online at www.cathychurch.com.
GUY HARVEY Ph.D is accomplished in many roles: artist, scientist, diver, angler, photographer conservationist and explorer. Earning an honours degree in Marine Biology from Aberdeen University, Scotland and a Ph.D. from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica, Guy gave up a budding career as a marine biologist for that of a highly acclaimed artist, while at the same time continuing his ocean explorations, traveling the world to better understand the habits and habitats of the marine wildlife he paints. Guy is also an ardent conservationist and formed the Guy Harvey Research Institute, working with many organisations to help manage and protect fishery resources around the world.
NATALIE URqUHART is the Director and Chief Curator of the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. She holds a BA in Art History (University of Glasgow), an MA in Arts Management (University of London) and has 17 years’ experience in the cultural sector where she specialises in developing creative strategies, programming and exhibitions for public sector arts organisations and heritage sites. Natalie is a leading authority on Caymanian art and has published regular papers on the subject and well as the book Art of the Cayman Islands, the islands’ first formal art history (Scala Fine Art Publishers Ltd., Fall 2016). She currently serves as a President of the Museums Association of the Caribbean; a core committee member of Tilting Axis, and as a member of the Cayman Islands National Cultural Policy Committee, where she represents the Visual Arts and Creative Industries sectors.
SOPHIA-ANN HARRIS (nee Solomon) is the founder of the law firm Solomon Harris. Sophia’s specialties include banking, investment funds, corporate and commercial law, trusts, immigration and all aspects of local licensing law. She is a well-recognised corporate and immigration attorney. Sophia is a past Chairwoman of the Immigration Appeals Tribunal and the Immigration’s Business Staffing Plan Board and sat on other Government Statutory bodies. Sophia is a past Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Ltd., a past President of the Chamber of Commerce and is a current member of the Cayman Islands Anti-Corruption Commission by appointment of H.E. the Governor of the Cayman Islands.
