CONNECTION
Celebrating Cayman’s culture
is something we do very well and often! The islands enjoy a vibrant arts scene, lots of great festivals and events that showcase all different sides to our culture and have lots of fantastic organisations whose priority it is to educate, inform and entertain us on
all things cultural.

Chalkfest brings out the inner artist in us all
As the name suggests, the Cayman National Cultural Foundation is a major proponent of Cayman’s
culture, and puts on some great events throughout the year such as CayFest that is held in February and which includes the magical Red Sky at Night festival of the arts, featuring lots of
live performances and great food,
art and fun. Celebrating the art of communicating, Gimistory has turned into an international storytelling festival and takes place at the end of November and beginning of December. The event brings together young and old alike for some good old fashioned entertainment from local and overseas storytellers.
The Cayman Islands Folk Singers are a talented group who entertain at a
variety of events, singing songs of the past that have just as much meaning today as they did when first written.
In April, Chalkfest, held at Camana Bay, brings out the inner artist in us all, and Cocofest, held in February at the iconic Pedro St James location,
is quickly growing in popularity, celebrating our love for this amazingly versatile nut!
Two entities that really do a great
job in highlighting the visual arts in the Cayman Islands as well as promoting the culture of this location are The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands and the Visual Arts Society. The National Gallery sits in a beautiful, purpose-built building off the Esterley Tibbetts bypass and is home to the fantastic National Collection of art, as well as revolving exhibitions that change every few months.
The Visual Arts Society is run by an energetic group of art lovers who use a lovely building called the Watler House, situated in the grounds at Pedro St James, as their base. They hold numerous shows and exhibitions throughout the year and artists can often be found selling their artwork at the Farmers and Artisans Market at Camana Bay on a Wednesday.
