Her friends and co-workers had her promise to rethink the seriousness of ending it
all and asked me to spend the night with her so she would not kill herself. I began
to wonder, “Would Betty take me out, too?” Sue said, “No, you are NOT spending
the night; we are leaving!”
We had good friends who lived about ten miles away, so we stayed with them that
night and promised to return the next morning. We spent most of the next day with
Betty, and her friends promised to remain with her and lie for her at work to
protect her job. We went back to Saddlebrook, and Betty went on with her life and
lives to this day.
