  We thought we had a big job once, as we had carried out the work on the first stage and had tendered for the second stage. We had some change of personnel, and through lack of experience, someone didn’t follow up on the quote. We assumed we had it, but one of our competitors had won the job. We never realised until one of our guys was driving past the site and a competitor’s product was being installed. That assumption cost us a big sale and gave a competitor a leg up!
And here is an example of a double Curse of Assumption on the part of a supplier of goods and a customer (me). I started ordering this product online and it was frustrating the hell out of me, as their website was always down. It was a start-up company and I wanted their products.
