 Trust
It’s important in your business from day one to build trust with everyone you have exposure to, whether it be suppliers, customers, team members, bank managers, lawyers or accountants. For some people, too often it’s about the short-term dollar and to make as much money and as soon as possible without taking the long-term route. Build trust and you will have a more successful and longer-term business.
I always ensured our customers were happy. Sometimes we turned unhappy ones into advocates and more business generated from it. They went from not trusting us when something went wrong or service was poor (it can happen) to trusting us, which resulted in more business from referrals and repeat customers.
We developed trust with our key clients. They didn’t want the hassle of dealing with anyone else but us, as they trusted us. They knew we would not rip them off, and that if anything went wrong, we would be there to sort it quickly. Building that trust paid off big time and long term.
