We said farewell to Peter Godden-Steele, our Director of Quality People and Culture.
Our Human Resources partners, Humankind, delivered a Leadership Development programme to build leadership capability in our people. The ten session programme covered a number of important topics, such as building an effective team, managing for performance, and having courageous conversations.
We were able to send a number of our staff to the Hospice New Zealand Palliative Care Conference in Christchurch in November. Before the Conference was held, Drs Kaye Basire and Salina Iupati organised a very successful research day.
Our Retail and Fundraising teams have had a successful year. We opened our new furniture shop
in Bunny Street which is proving a great initiative after trading from several pop-up stores. All our shops continue to make a huge contribution to the funding needs of the Hospice.
Once again, our Vintners’ Lunch was hugely successful with 360 guests enjoying the Masquerade Mardi Gras theme. We calculated that about $3million has been raised through this event over the 14 years we have been holding it. The Te Omanga Hospice Golf Day was also very successful with the most teams we’ve had registering to play on the day, raising the most we have ever raised through this event.
We were excited to watch the coronation of King Charles III in May as it brought back so many wonderful memories of his visit
to Te Omanga Hospice in 2005.
Thank you to all our supporters, we could not provide our quality, compassionate care without your generous and continuing support.
My heartfelt thanks to our community of volunteers who help make it possible for us to meet the needs of our patients and families.
I am incredibly thankful for our team and their willingness to step into the gaps created by short staffing across all teams as a result of retirements and ill health.
Finally, thank you to the Executive Leadership team and the Chairs and Trustees of the
Te Omanga Hospice Trust and
Te Omanga Hospice Foundation for
their outstanding support and guidance.
Biddy Harford MNZM Chief Executive
