Our aim was to create a series of buildings that are durable, in both physical and cultural terms. To this end, the urban and architectural traditions of the area have been brought together with modern living requirements. The result produced a set of high-quality, spacious apartments that maximise the potential for Beirut’s dynamic and vibrant new area.
The project comprises six apartment buildings arranged across two urban blocks in the district of Wadi Abou Jmil. The proposed buildings occupy an important strategic position within the overall masterplan for the area.
Architectural vocabulary responds to the existing historic buildings in central Beirut. The facades are composed of a series of traditional building elements that undergo slight modifications from one building to the next; thus bal- conie, loggias, window openings and balustrades form part of a coherent language, whilst allowing each building to establish its own identity.
