                                               manila rope (29 feet/8.8 m
                                            of ¾-inch [19 mm] manila rope)
                                         18 feet (5.5 m) of small stuff, such as

                                          no. 21 tarred nylon (21 feet/6.4 m)
                                                        Sharp knife
                                                        Vinyl tape
                                    Swedish fid Small Swedish fid (a hollow fid of
                                           U-shaped section that allows easy
                                               “tucking” while splicing)
                                                       Marking pen



                  If you’d like to make a white rope fender, I recommend using Wall’s Poly Plus
               rope  in  the  sizes  specified  above.  Making  a  rope  fender  is  also  a  good
               opportunity to recycle old rope.








































                  Middle  a  14-foot/4.3  m  (20-foot/6  m)  length  of  ½-inch/12  mm  (¾-inch/19
               mm)  rope.  Form  an  eye  by  wrapping  tape  around  the  doubled  rope  at  2½
