Zin

my “Once in a Lifetime”.

At six months of age, Zin entered the ring for his first show and was
awarded Best of Breed, over a top winning Special. He finished quickly, and
throughout his show career he loved earning those pretty ribbons, especially
the big ones because he could really show off with those! Among his memorable
wins are Best in Sweeps, Best of Winners, and many Best of Breeds and Group
placements. As a Grand Champion he was awarded Multiple Best in Specialty,
Awards of Merit and Best Opposite Sex at our National Specialties. At the peak of
his career, with limited showing, he ranked #3 Chow. The most rewarding and
touching wins were those bestowed by our breeder judges who appreciated Zin’s
classic chow type.
As with all show dogs, there comes a time when you strut away from
the ring and hang up your lead. Zin spent his retirement years loved
and adored, living a life of leisure in the wine country of Northern
California. His days were filled with being my side kick, my
guardian, and helping me raise puppies. As the years passed I
grew increasingly grateful for our time together, knowing that
this these moments were more important than any win ever
achieved, and to this day I remain humbled by the gift that was
Zin.
It warms my heart to share photos of our beloved boy in this
issue of Chow Life. On the cover, one of my favorite photos of
Zin, capturing his expression while watching the grandkids engaged
in a snow ball fight. The photos on this page are of his win at the
National Specialty, his Parade of Title Holders event, and a Best of
Breed win.
